The Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery in nearby Orland offers a museum for fishery enthusiasts. The hatchery is located on Alamoosook Lake and beautiful Craig Pond is also in the same area. Both lakes have public access for swimming and boating.

There are several places in the area to rent boats, including the Balsam Cove Campground in East Orland, offering rentals of party boats, motor or fishing boats, canoes, kayaks and paddleboats.

Visit Fort Knox in Prospect. Fort Knox is a State Historic Site owned and operated by the Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands.

See the Penobscot River, and a beautiful view from the new Penobscot Narrows Bridge observatory ( one of just three in the world).
